Key Administrator to Address Hispanic IT, Science and Mathematics
Professionals at Nation’s only Gathering of Hispanic Technology Professionals
on Congress.

2009—At the 2009 Annual Latinos in Information
Sciences and Technology Association’s 2nd Annual Legislative Technology
Forum in Washington, DC next month, LISTA will host hundreds of representatives
of the technology public, private and the non-profit sectors that will be
present to take part in key legislative workshops and visits with Congressional
and Administration officials on technology, the Latino Community and the year
2030.
The 2nd Annual Legislative Forum will take place June 9-10 in Washington, DC
and will focus on the theme, "Technology, Latinos and the Year
2030." The Legislative Conference will bring together the nation's
top Hispanic IT professionals, opinion leaders along with key governmental and
administration officials for a two-day gathering to discuss the most pressing
legislative concerns of the nation’s largest and fastest growing business
segment labor sector, information science and
technology. Expanding hemispheric relations and trade, telecommunications, energy efficiency, and small business programs are among the key
issues that will receive top billing at this year's Legislative Conference.
The event will be launched at the National Council of La Raza (NCLR) Headquarters on June 9, 2009 with the
much-anticipated event, “Advocacy101: Get your Message Across in 2 minutes or
Less.” Guest speakers for the event include Alicia Diaz of the Cuban American National Council, Ronald Blackburn
of ASPIRA, and Tom Oliver of
Capital PR Wire. Sponsored by State Farm and Aetna, the event will
provide STEMS professionals education information on how to advocate on key
issues during scheduled Congressional Hill visits taking place the following
day.
A welcome reception and press conference will take place at 7:00
PM on June 9 at the NCLR Building Auditorium featuring key Congressional
representatives and community elites to discuss issues regarding the digital
divide and to officially kick off the second annual “LISTA Takes the Hill”
conference.
Conference participants will also have an opportunity to attend a
special luncheon on President Barack Obama’s
“Health Technology Initiative” and “The future of Latino Small Tech Business
Sector”. The Wednesday afternoon event will feature keynote speaker Dr.
David Blumenthal, National Coordinator for Health
Information Technology (HHS/ONC/HIT) of the Department
of Health and Human Services, and Rafael De La Vega, AT&T President and
CEO. Theluncheon will be immediately followed by a CEO Round Table” with
Congresswoman Nydia Velasquez and members of the Small Business Committee of Congress (Invited).
The conference will conclude with the LISTA Campeones
de Nuestra Comunidad hosted
by Hispanic IT small business owners to honor the nation’s two Hispanic
Presidential Cabinet members, the Department
of Labor Secretary Hilda Solis and Department of the Interior Secretary Ken Salazar (Invited).
