Executive Board

Membership

﷯ September 2013 Greetings Colleagues, It’s been a long time since I’ve communicated with you, our membership and prospective members. Although you can say I have been quiet, it does not mean that the NOHCJ Board has been. A quick update of what has been planned for the organization: Scholarship Contribution: The New Mexico Women in Corrections Organization recently contributed $2,139.18 towards the NOHCJ Scholarship fund. These monies are dedicated towards eligible candidates that meet the following criteria: (1) The candidate must be a female currently employed in the field of Criminal Justice, (2) The student is majoring in Criminal Justice, (3) A financial need must exist, and (4) The student’s GPA is a 3.0 or better. NOHCJ Reception: We will be hosting a reception in conjunction with the ACA Winter Conference, January 31 – February 5, 2014, in Tampa, Florida. A fun-filled event and an opportunity to meet and greet criminal/juvenile justice colleagues from across the country, and yes, even colleagues from other counties will make it even more rewarding. More information to follow. College/University Academic Scholarships: We will be awarding four (4), $500 Academic Scholarships. An application can be downloaded from our website and is due by 5:00 PM, CST, on Friday, December 6, 2013. We expect the selection process to be intense, as we know many qualified applicants will apply. The NOHCJ Scholarship Funds are as a result of contributions received from long time supporter, Corrections Corporation of America (CCA) and most recently the New Mexico Women in Corrections Organization. Founding Supporters of NOHCJ Another group we are most grateful is Keefe Supply, an ongoing supporter and many times a sponsor of our events and a charter corporate member of NOHCJ. Keefe Supply sponsored our last reception held in Phoenix, AZ during the ACA Winter Conference in 2012. The Keefe family has been an NOHCJ supporter since the creation of NOHCJ. I will keep in touch. We have exciting news on some of our members who are moving up in their respective careers. If you should have any questions regarding membership, please do not hesitate to contact us. Respectively, Ana Aguirre NOHCJ President
